São Paulo, Brazil – The official residence of the President of Brazil, the Alvorada Palace, in Brasilia, suffered an attempted invasion on Saturday (24). At around six o’clock in the morning, the driver of a black car drove onto the road leading to the residence and and upon reaching the first security checkpoint, disregarded the order to stop given by the personnel who secure the site.

The vehicle continued advancing but had its tires punctured upon crossing spike strips activated after the invasion threat. Palace guards shot at the vehicle, but the man managed to flee despite the damage to the tires.

President Lula was in Alvorada Palace at the time of the attempted invasion.

In the afternoon, the attacker was identified by the Federal Police and taken to the police station for questioning.
